A TIMELESS
LEGACY

Nemo enim ipsam voluptatem quia voluptas sit aspernatur aut odit aut fugit.

1944

The dawn of what will become a major industrial hub in the paper sector. Alvaro Celli sees the opportunity and opens the first workshop in Pescia (Lucca) for the manufacturing and repair of machinery.

1960

In this decade, the company’s operations take on an international character, with the first rewinder manufactured for a foreign customer. Marco Celli and Piero Celli, sons of the founder Alvaro, join the company, and A.Celli Mechanical Industries SpA moves to a larger production plant in Porcari (Lucca).

1979

Having established itself as a machinery supplier exclusively for the paper sector, A.Celli enters the nonwovens market, producing its first rewinder for nonwoven fabrics, soon becoming an industry leader.

1991

Alessandro Celli and Mauro Celli, grandsons of founder Alvaro, officially join the company’s management, marking the start of the third entrepreneurial generation.

1993

The birth of A.Celli International, founded in Miami, Florida, with the purpose of offering after-sales service, spare parts distribution, and local technical support throughout the American market.

2000

It’s time to look East: A.Celli Shanghai is established, set up to provide commercial and technical support throughout the Asian market.

2003

The year of transformation. The historic company A.Celli S.p.A. splits into two distinct sectors:

  • A.Celli Nonwovens, focused on the nonwoven market
  • A.Celli Paper, focused on the tissue and flat paper market
    — with an additional production site of over 10,000 m².
2014

A.Celli celebrates its 70th anniversary — an ambitious milestone supported by a long history of success and achievement.
Two production plants totaling 25,000 m² of covered area. A workforce of over 200 employees. A turnover of €120 million in 2013, with more than 95% exports to about 46 countries worldwide.
This is today’s A.Celli. Always with an eye to the future.

2016

New markets emerge on the horizon with the strategic opening of new branches in Istanbul, a Western city with eyes on the East, and the relocation of the U.S. office from Florida to North Carolina, at the heart of key American markets.
A.Celli’s expansion strategy, focused on specific objectives, continues on its path.

2019

On the occasion of its 75th anniversary, A.Celli adds two major milestones to its story: the construction of a new 1,700 m² cutting-edge office building and tech hub, and the opening of a new branch in Foshan, Guangdong Province, to better serve the increasingly important Chinese market.

2020

In a year disrupted by a global health emergency, the A.Celli Group doesn’t stop. On the contrary, it takes a crucial step forward by acquiring PMT, a historic Piedmont-based company operating in the paper and tissue machinery sector.

2023

Pursuing the goal of full integration between its offered solutions, A.Celli acquires Sadas and the majority shares of two other Italian companies, Taiprora and Joob. This strengthens the company’s technological know-how in the fields of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), system integration, internal logistics software (WCS-WMS), and 3D simulation tools.

2025

A.Celli, with the technological contributions of Group companies such as Taiprora, Joob, and Extreme Automation, founds a new company: Smartlogistix. This new venture, headquartered in a state-of-the-art facility built specifically for the purpose, aims to become a key player in hardware and software solutions for the automation and management of goods handling, storage, and distribution processes.
Also in this year, A.Celli Paper is acquired by the international group ANDRITZ, a move seen as a major opportunity for further development and growth in the tissue and paper market.
